What is an orthodontist?

An orthodontist is a dentist who has specialized in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.  After completing college and four years of dental school, he/she has taken two or more additional years of full time specialized training in the treatment of conditions of malaligned teeth and malrelationships of the jaws and other supporting structures of the facial complex.
